I’ve always been passionate about storytelling through audio and visual media. As a kid, my father encouraged my brother, Hogan, and me to pursue our love of filmmaking. By the age of 12, we had mowed enough lawns to buy our own camcorder, and we put it to work every chance we got.

In 2004, I officially began my career as a videographer and editor, producing wedding films for a family friend in the event videography industry. A decade later, in 2014, I purchased Michael’s Video & Wedding Cinema from my longtime mentor, Mike Azar. Today, I’m proud to continue operating and growing the business he built.

In 2016, while filming at The Greenbrier Resort, I met Erik Hastings, better known as “Erik the Travel Guy.” Despite a rocky and unconventional start, our collaboration led to the creation of the two-time Emmy Award-winning travel series Beyond Your Backyard. The show airs nationwide on PBS and Create TV and is available on streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime and PBS Passport. For several years, I served as Executive Producer and Director of Photography for the Erik the Travel Guy brand, helping bring destinations and stories from around the world to audiences everywhere.

In 2021, I began the newest chapter of my filmmaking career as Director of Production for Blue Ridge Public Television, Inc. (PBS Appalachia and Blue Ridge PBS), where I continue to lead creative storytelling initiatives that inform, inspire, and connect communities.

Today, I live in New Castle, Virginia, with my wife, Molly, and our four children: Luke, Isaac, Phebe, and Piper. Whether I’m producing a television series, crafting a wedding film, or telling a local story, I remain grateful to do what I’ve loved since childhood: capture meaningful moments and share them through the power of film.
